Our life is incomplete without our friends. They are not just our companions in good and bad times but are also our confidantes. Friendship is a universal thing. We can be friends with anyone, be it our parents, siblings, relatives, neighbours, dogs, trees and so on. A child might find the closest friend in their non-living playmates. Actor turned humanitarian Somy Ali, who now runs her NGO, No More Tears, talks about her best friend.

“My go-to friend Melissa McCune, unfortunately, she recently moved to another state. However, that did not stop our friendship or weaken it in the least bit in fact it made it stronger. She is the one I would call at 3 am because I know she will answer and do whatever it takes to help me. I believe it's best to have quality over quantity and Melissa has proved not once but over and over again that she is always there for me and I can forever count on her. Another thing I love about her is that she does not judge anyone because we are all humans and we all have a past when it comes to making mistakes. I can tell her when I mess up and she will laugh it off or say it's fine because humans are born to make mistakes,” she shares.

Talking about the significance of friendship in her life, Somy mentions that we should consider ourselves lucky if we find even that one true friend in our lifetime.

“People come and go like the weather, so don't have expectations - this is the best advice I can give to our youth and when someone will turn on you completely unexpectedly don't be surprised. I am saying all this from the experiences I have had in life, be it good or bad. It's always better to not expect so you don't get hurt and always give without expecting anything in return,” she says.
