RRR actors Jr NTR and Ram Charan and music composer MM Keeravani, among other have been included in Oscars' Academy member list. On Thursday, filmmaker SS Rajamouli took to Twitter to congratulate all 'six members of the RRR team' that have been invited to become members of The Academy.
SS Rajamouli tweeted that he was ‘extremely proud’ that six members of the RRR team have been invited as members for The Academy Awards this year.
He tweeted, “Extremely proud that six members of our RRR team have been invited as members for The Academy Awards this year. Congratulations Tarak (Jr NTR), Charan (Ram Charan), Peddanna (MM Keeravaani), Sabu sir (Sabu Cyril), Senthil (KK Senthil Kumar) and Chandrabose garu (brother). Also, congrats to the members from Indian cinema who received the invitation this year.”
RRR's team, including the actors, were all invited to become members of the Academy, except for director SS Rajamouli. Music composer and Oscar-winner MM Keeravaani, casting director KK Senthil Kumar, music director Chandrabose and production designer Sabu Cyril as well as lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR received the invitation.
Some fans expressed surprise that the filmmaker's name was omitted, while others from Team RRR were invited by the Academy.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) sent out around 398 invitations to popular and renowned personalities from the entertainment industries across the world, requesting them to join the panel.
Apart from team RRR, the Academy's 2023 list also featured filmmaker Mani Ratnam, filmmaker Karan Johar, producer of India's official Oscars 2023 entry Chhello Show Siddharth Roy Kapur, director of the Oscar-nominated documentary All That Breathes Shaunak Sen, among others.
