Veteran Actor Jee Seok-jin Takes Hiatus From 'Running Man' Due To Health Reasons

On December 18, it was announced that South Korean comedian, singer, television presenter, actor, and broadcaster Jee Seok-jin will be taking a hiatus from the popular South Korean variety show, 'Running Man,' due to undisclosed health reasons, according to this agency Esteem Entertainment.

According to the official statement, Jee Seok-jin was been medically advised to undergo a treatment based on the results of a health examination he has taken in recent times.

The agency also expressed gratitude for the constant love and support for the comedian and assured fans that this is just a short break to focus on his health and getting better. Esteem Entertainment stated, “He will take a short rest period and do his best to regain his strength so that he can return in a healthier state as soon as possible.”

“Following a recent health examination, Jee Seok-jin decided to take a temporary break from SBS ‘Running Man’ in accordance with the [doctor’s] opinion that he needs treatment. He will take a short break to recover his health and do his best to greet viewers in good health as soon as possible. Thank you for always showing support and love for Jee Seok-jin.”

As for more details on the kind of treatment he would be going through, Esteem Entertainment told OSEN, "In respect of the artist's privacy, we will not disclose the specific medical condition. There is no major cause for concern."

The 57-year-old has been a host of 'Running Man' since it debuted in 2010. The other current members include Yoo Jae-seok, Song Ji-hyo, Haha, Kim Jong-kook and Yang Se-chan.
