Pakistani actor Khalid Saleem Butt, best known for his role in ‘Khaie’, breathed his last in Lahore on the night of January 11. The veteran actor passed away at the age of 76.
Khalid Saleem Butt started his career in the 1970s. He appeared in Urdu and Punjabi films and television serials. The actor was recently seen in the hit serial, ‘Khaie’, where he played the role of Durab Khan – Faysal Quraishi’s father. The actor appeared in numerous PTV Productions such as ‘Jangal Pura ‘(1997), ‘Boota to Toba Tek Singh’ (1999), and ‘Landa Bazaar’ (2002).
Regarding recent PTV Productions, he was seen in ‘Love, Life Aur Lahore’ (2011–13), ‘Laal Ishq’ (2017) and ‘GT Road’ (2019). Throughout his career, he has also been a part of important films. He had received the Pride of Performance award for his meritorious work in the field of arts.
As the news of his death reached social media, condolences started pouring in. Durefishan Saleem penned a heartfelt tribute. The actor wrote, “I’ll do many roles but never will I have the greater privilege of working with a man who taught me what art is -what dedication towards craft is and what resilience looks like. This is your KHAIE-this will always be yours. Too soon,still too soon-I wish you had told me you were happy to see my work-I wish.”

Khalid Saleem Butt passed away due to kidney and liver ailments. He is survived by his wife and four children.
