Veteran Tamil Actor And Comedian RS Shivaji Passes Away At 66

Tamil actor and comedian RS Shivaji breathed his last in Chennai on Saturday (September 2). He was 66.

Tamil actor and comedian RS Shivaji breathed his last in Chennai on Saturday (September 2). He was 66. Born in Chennai in 1956, he was the son of actor and producer M.R. Santhanam,

The veteran actor was known for his collaboration with Kamal Haasan and his banner Raaj Kamal Production House. He was last seen with Haasan in the 2022 blockbuster film 'Vikram'. Shivaji's last film was 'Lucky Man' that released on September 1. 

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to the X platform (earlier known as Twitter) to share the sad news. He wrote, “Popular Tamil Character/Comedy Actor #RSShivaji passed away in Chennai this morning..He acted in this Friday release #LuckyMan and has done several memorable roles including #ApoorvaSagodharargal etc May his soul RIP!”

RS Shivaji started his career in the 1980s, and in his career of over four decades in the film industry, he worked in films like  ‘Apoorva Sagodharargal,’ ‘Kolamavu Kokila,’ and ‘Dharala Prabhu' among others. He was also seen in Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' and Sai Pallavi starrer 'Gargi'. 

Apart from acting, he was also an assistant director and an expert in sound design and line production.
