After a sea full of actors and well-known personalities took to social media to pay homage to actor Vijayakanth, his son Shanmuga Pandian has now penned an emotional note in honour of his father. He took to his Instagram stories on Saturday to post a photo of his father and in the backdrop, the song 'Raasavae Unnai' sung by P Susheela.
He wrote, “Thank you all for extending your heartfelt condolences. And to the thousands and lakhs of people who showed up to pay their respects standing on roads and bridges, your support shows us the kind of legacy our dad has left behind, the kind of life he has lived and the love he has earned. All your support provides solace to our family as we come to terms with this loss. Rest in peace dad and our captain (crying and white heart emoticons).”
On Thursday, at the age of 71, actor Vijayakanth died in Chennai, after being COVID positive. Prior to this, he was in the hospital under observation for almost two weeks. On Friday, he was laid to rest, in the presence of thousands of people paying their respect.
The founder of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, and widely known as the ‘Captain’ of Tamil cinema, his life is marked by a successful acting career. He acted in about 154 movies before he shifted his base to politics. He will forever be remembered as someone who brought remarkable changes to the South Indian film industry.
