Actor Vikrant Massey, who was last seen in Gaslight with Sara Ali Khan, recently opened up about the notion that male actors are paid more than female actors in the film industry. The actor says that he is one actor who gets paid less than his female co-stars.

Vikrant told ETimes, “Majority of the cases you see that (women getting paid lesser than men). We have seen these women A-listers come out and speak openly about it but the reverse is true for me.” Vikrant said that most of his female co-stars have gotten paid more than him but he has never made a fuss about that.

“Most of my female co-stars have been paid more than me but I’ve never made a fuss of it because I understand the practicality of it,” he said. The actor continued, “My big body of work does not give me as much money as a Deepika Padukone of course. Or even fighting for a credit in a film like Ginny Weds Sunny so that’s how it is. You see it the way you want to see it.”

Vikrant Massey started his career on television but over the years, he has worked in films and web series. In a recent chat with PTI, Vikrant opened up about not starring in solo theatrical releases and said there is a “long way” to go for that.

“My films are not in the cinema (theatres) and I am pretty much aware of that. And I also know why they are not in the cinema, especially when I am leading a cast, is because I still haven’t arrived in the business. There is a long way but I am happy with the way I am doing and the kind of stories I am telling,” he said.

Vikrant Massey will next be seen in Crime Aaj Kal on Amazon Mini TV
