Aamir Khan's daughter Ira Khan tied the knot with her longtime beau Nupur Shikhare on January 3. It was an intimate ceremony at a five-star hotel in suburban Bandra. The couple had a registered marriage which was attended by their family members, including Aamir, his ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, and his sons Junaid and Azad among others. The wedding was followed by a reception at the same venue.
Nupur, who is a fitness trainer jogged 8 kilometres to the wedding venue wearing a pair of shorts, a gym vest and a pair of sneakers. He also completed the marriage formalities in the same outfit. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Ira, addressing the guests said, “I take thee Nupur Shikhare as my lawful husband.” The latter said, “I Nupur Shikhare take thee Ira Khan as my lawful wife.”
After the rituals and saying ‘I do,’ Ira said goodbye to her husband and announced that he will go take a shower now.
However, for the reception, he was in a sherwani. Ira, ditching the red lehenga or outfit, opted for pastel pink dhoti pants, a dark green blouse and a dupatta for her special day.
Another video from the wedding is doing the rounds where Aamir Khan was seen welcoming the ‘baraatis.’ The actor was also seen hugging his son-in-law. Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani also attended the ceremony.
Ira and Nupur's pre-wedding celebrations started a few weeks back. On January 2, there were haldi and mehendi ceremonies. Apparently, Salman Khan hosted the mehendi ceremony for the couple at his Galaxy Apartment.
Reportedly, the newlyweds will host a lavish reception in Mumbai on January 13 and it will be attended by several Bollywood celebs.
