2022 has just bid us goodbye and it has left us with some fabulous movies to look forward to in 2023. In the new year we have got countless movies to binge on. While there are numerous big-budget magnum opus movies that are lined up for release, there are also some films that increase the curiosity in you because of the promising storyline or the talented cast that they have.

Among so many compelling films that are soon to be out, we bring to you a few astounding pieces to make this year a whole lot happening.

‘Faraaz’

Helmed by Hansal Mehta, ‘Faraaz’ is based on the real-life terrorist attack that ravaged a Dhaka cafe in 2016. It is a hostage drama that tells the story of a young man, Faraaz, who found himself entrapped with his two friends and several other ordinary Bangladeshis in Holey Artisan, an upscale restaurant. The film, a tense drama that unspools over one claustrophobic night, is a story of our polarized times, one that seeks to explore young minds and their angst which often leads to acts of unspeakable violence. Hansal Mehta's fictionalised representations of true events in his previous films and series like ‘Omerta’, ‘Shahid’, ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Scam 1992’ have been par excellence. If you crave a gripping thriller to savour, ‘Faraaz’ is your absolute go-to. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Anubhav Sinha, Sakshi Bhatt, Sahil Saigal and Mazahir Mandsaurwala and stars Zahaan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal, Juhi Babbar, Aamir Ali, Sachin Lalwani, Pallak Lalwani, and Reshham Sahaani.

‘Bheed’

After Rajkummar Rao stunned us with some incredible work in 2022, his upcoming film ‘Bheed’ is still the most anticipated one. The Anubhav Sinha directorial stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar and is touted to be an intriguing social drama that will rightly give you some mental stimulation. Interesting, isn't it? The film is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar under their banners Benaras Media Works and T-Series. ‘Bheed’ stars Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur, Ashutosh Rana, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastav, Kritika Kamra, Karan Pandit.

‘Lost’

Aniruddha Roy Choudhury-directed ‘Lost’ is a gripping investigative drama thriller that depicts a higher quest, a search for lost values of empathy and integrity. Inspired by true events, ‘Lost’ is a story of an enthusiastic young woman crime reporter in her relentless search for the truth behind the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist. The cast’s stupendous performances and the film’s brilliant narrative make it one of the most compelling watches to add to this list. Along with Yami Gautam, the film stars Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, and an ensemble of younger talent, including Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee, and Tushar Pandey, in prominent roles. ‘Lost’ is produced by Zee Studios, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora, Sam, and Indrani Mukherjee and is directed by Aniruddha Roy Choudhary.

‘Afwaah’

Directed by Sudhir Mishra, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar, Sharib Hashmi, Sumit Kaul, Sumit Vyas, Rocky Raina and TJ Bhanu. The film is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar under their banners Benaras Media Works and T Series respectively. Not much has been revealed about the storyline, but considering the talented star cast of the project it, it has created a humongous buzz among the fans of content-oriented movies.

‘Shehzada’

Kartik Aaryan and Rohit Dhawan's rom-com drama teaser was released recently, and it got everyone hooked. The drama has an interesting blend of quirky punchlines, and humour and is Kartik Aaryan's action film, which not many have seen him doing to date. Well, Kriti Sanon adds to the charm of the film. The duo struck fabulous chemistry in the teaser and you really can't sleep on this one. Directed by Rohit Dhawan and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Aman Gill, Allu Aravind and S.R Radhakrishnan and Bunny Vas, the film is the remake of the Allu Arjun-Pooja Hegde starrer Telugu blockbuster ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’.
