Why Is There A Dearth Of Fantasy Drama In Hindi Cinema?

There has been an enormous amount of content being available for the viewers but not many fantasy family dramas that are being created. Zee5’s latest show ‘Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu’ tries to obliviate that.

Sometimes all you need is a little escape from the real world and what better than a fantasy show or movie that can transform you into their own fantastical world? Over a couple of years, there has been an enormous amount of content being available for the viewers but not many fantasy family dramas are being created. And, many viewers complain that most of the shows available are vulgar or too violent, and hence cannot be watched by a family together.

While that may or may not be true, we really need more OTT platforms to cater to the needs of young adults and more creators tapping into the fantasy genre. One such platform that has recently tapped the children's fantasy genre is Zee5. With their recently released series ‘Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu’ the platform aims to cater to the entertainment needs of all and promises to provide diverse content.

‘Fireflies: Parth Aur Jugnu’ centres around Parth, played by Meet Mukhi, a down-and-out fourteen-year-old kid who meets Jugnu, played by Aekam Binjwe, a mystical kid from the haunted forest of Bheem Mukteshwar and together they embark on a journey full of action-packed adventure, self-discovery, and bedtime stories. Shot in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, this coming-of-age series unravels emotions like teenage friendship, exploration, mythology, and life lessons of good vs evil. With a mix of VFX, animation, magic and a great storyline, the series has got great reviews and has been doing well on OTT.
