  • Starting 1 January 2019, all Volkswagen cars will be available with a total of four years of roadside assistance along with standard vehicle warranty for 4 years/1 lakh km.
  • Customers can now avail three services during the first year of ownership or upto 15,000km.

In a bid to improve the ownership experience, Volkswagen has announced a new after-sales initiative. Starting 1 January 2019, VW is offering a total of four years of roadside assistance along with warranty for 4 year/1 lakh km as standard across its entire product portfolio. Until now, the carmaker was offering 2 year/unlimited km warranty with two years of roadside assistance as standard.

Along with this, the carmaker has also bumped up the number of free services from one free service valid for upto 7,500km/6 months to three free services valid upto 15,000 km/ 1 year.

Volkswagen claims that these introductions have helped it to bring down the regular service cost of its car in the range of 24 per cent to 44 per cent, depending on the model.

With the new after-sales scheme, VW has surely taken a step in the right direction. Except for Skoda, which also offers 4 year/1 lakh km warranty as standard, no other rival carmaker is offering a four-year standard warranty.

To put things into perspective, while Hyundai and Honda offer 3 year/unlimited km standard warranty, Maruti offers a standard warranty of 2 years/40,000km across its lineup. Currently, VW has five cars in its portfolio including the Polo, Ameo, Vento, Tiguan and the Passat, whose prices start from Rs 5.55 lakh and go upto Rs 32.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
