I sat back on my cell bed and leaned against the wall. For the first time in six months' imprisonment I didn't envy the Barings managers' freedom. They must be feeling wretched. I was probably the person they envied—I had come clean. I had done the frauds, been caught and was now going to serve a prison sentence. I was going to do it in Singapore because the SFO (Serious Fraud Office, UK) was spineless, but so what? I'd get through it. And then I'd come out on the other side and put it all behind me.
