Yes, Bangalore is facing infrastructure constraints. Steps are being taken to resolve these. But all investors can't be accommodated. If you go on adding to Bangalore's capacity there will be multidimensional problems. Our attempt to persuade some investors to go to other districts should not be misunderstood.
But what about industries interested in Bangalore only?
We have to impose restrictions in some areas. For others in the thrust areas, we are setting up four satellite towns where infrastructure will be provided.
Are you not worsening the situation by rolling out the red carpet for investors, while infrastructure development is virtually at a standstill?
Bangalore has certain limitations. We can't go beyond a point. We have to allow investment in areas like agro-based industries. Other industries can be pushed to other districts. Projects like the Ring Road, MRTS, flyovers and a new international airport have all seen definite progress since we assumed office. Mega projects need time.
Shouldn't you concentrate on infrastructure development first and then seek foreign investment?
We can't stop inviting investors till infrastructure is developed. Projects have a gestation period. We are confident that by the time they are ready to start operations infrastructure would be created.
