BMW Motorrad launched the G 310 R and the G 310 GS in India last week. To read more about whether the prices of Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom) makes sense for India.

But just before the G 310 twins made their way to Indian soil, BMW Motorrad issued a recall for the said motorcycles in the USA. The recall was to address an issue with the chassis wherein the section that links the side stand bushing on the frame may break or get damaged with repeated use. This can result in the bike toppling over, maybe even take the rider down with it. Not to forget, damage to the bike itself.

Currently, BMW Motorrad has recalled a total of 2,376 units of both the G 310 R and the G 310 GS. Affected bikes will have a reinforcement plate attached to the side stands that are still in good condition. The damaged ones, though, will get a new side stand. In fact, if required, BMW states that it will even replace the frame on the G 310 R and the G 310 GS.

There will be no additional cost for the replacement and repair of the affected models. The recall will begin from 7th August 2018 onwards.

While models in the USA have been affected by this issue, BMW Motorrad will ensure that models sold in India will be taken care of. So bikes that have reached or are reaching showrooms are expected to be free of any such issue.
