Stage 1: Punj Lloyd- promoted Spectranet has already put in place a 170- km optical fibre backbone covering Delhi and Gurgaon. This cabling network will provide state- of- the- art communication,Internet and multimedia services which can be availed on a television set. The fully- customised and value- added services will be launched in Delhi by March- April.

Stage 2: The Capital will be the starting point of the wiring- up of the country. In three years, the Rs 2,000- crore project will link up over 40 cities across India through a fibre- optic backbone of 64 MB capacity.

Stage 3: The 40 cities covered in the second phase will act as service hubs and tributaries linked to the backbone will e- engage the smaller towns.
