After releasing teaser videos of a new scooter on its social media channels last week, Yamaha has now officially launched the ‘Street Rally Edition’ of the Cygnus Ray-ZR at a price tag of Rs 57,898 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 2,000 more than the standard variant. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the scooter in the flesh. Yamaha had first showcased the ‘Rally Edition’ of the Ray-ZR at the 2018 Auto Expo in February this year.
So what do you get for the additional Rs 2,000? For starters, the Rally Edition comes with fins on the top fairing, which Yamaha calls "Wing Style fairing". It also comes with new knuckle guards, faux air ducts in the front and sporty mirrors. The scooter also gets a fully-digital instrument console borrowed from the Yamaha Alpha along with two additional colours - red and blue. The rest of the bodywork is the same as the stock Ray-ZR.
The Ray-ZR Street Rally Edition is powered by a 113cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 7.2PS of power and 8.1Nm of torque. Telescopic forks at the front and a single rear shock absorber at the rear handle suspension duties. The rally edition gets 170mm front disc brake and a drum unit at the rear.
The standard drum variant of the Ray-ZR costs Rs 53,451, while the disc variant retails for Rs 55,898. It competes against the Honda Dio (Rs 53,837), TVS Wego (Rs 53,433) and the Hero Maestro Edge (Rs 51,330). (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi)
