Kumbh Mela 2019: Kinnar Akhada Participates For The First Time

The latest addition to the existing 13 Akharas in Kumbh 2019 is Kinnar Akhara. It has set up a camp in Sector 12, about 6-7 kms away from other Akharas, at Prayagraj Kumbh, which attracts hundreds of thousand devotees daily. For the first time, Kinnar Akhada became the first transgender group to bathe at the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati on the first day of Ardh Kumbh Mela. Juna Akhara, a traditional and powerful akhara, has given the recognition to them and allowed it to be a part of the Shahi Snan.
