Digital Marketing is as dynamic as the world we live in, every change in the algorithm, every shift in public opinions is reflected in digital marketing strategies. And to succeed in this field, marketers have to keep up with the changing trends and sometimes have to go the extra mile to stay ahead of the competition.
Keeping up with the ever-changing landscape of digital marketing can become difficult and even confusing at times! We decided to reach out to an expert to identify the rising trends in the field and how our readers can make the most of these trends!
Kushagra Anand, the founder of PressVerse, is an expert in Digital Marketing and Public Relations. He has been in the industry for 6 years now, and has made a name for himself by working with national and international clients. Kushagra Anand has seen many trends come-and-go, and his key advice to digital marketers is to carve their own identity as professionals and also make use of digital marketing trends. He says, “While trends are effective ways of staying relevant and relatable to consumers, brands and marketers should have their own identities which they should express with trends instead of it being the other way round. It is good to know the trends and at the moment, and according to my research and experience social media presence has become a huge factor in digital marketing.”.
According to him, these are the newest trends in digital marketing that are here to stay!
Short Video Ads
Videos are more effective at communicating brand messages than stills or text. While video ads require a lot of work and investment, short videos are much more economical and easier to produce. The viral popularity of video sharing platforms like Moj, Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts continues is a testament to the public’s love for this format. Anand says, “Short-Format Videos like the ones we see on Reels, or YouTube Shorts have an organic feel to them and consumers are more receptive to such ads. They can easily engage with it, as these ads will show up naturally while they are scrolling through their feed.”.
Instagram Reels
Instagram Reels have been adopted by brands and creators alike, and are a great way to gain recognition and generate interactions. Instagram’s Reel feature continues to grow strong, and other features like stories, posts, live, guides gives Instagram an edge over competitors. Anand advises brands to co-opt popular trends and audios on reels and try their hand at creating a viral sound or trend of their own! He says, “Creating a reel can be as expensive or economical as you want it to be. It takes a little help and time to crack into the algorithm but when you find your audience, you effectively reach the benefits of a marketing campaign.”.
He also clarifies why short video ads and Instagram Reels are two different trends. According to him, the former requires you to produce a smaller amount of content and this video will be shown to the brand’s chosen demographic on priority. While running a video-ad campaign, brands will get their set number of impressions and clicks without waiting on the algorithm. Whereas Instagram Reels requires consistent and dedicated production effort, social media management and is reliant on the algorithm for success.
Micro Influencers
Lastly, Micro Influencers are a rising trend in digital marketing. Social media accounts with 1000 - 100000 followers are classified as micro influencers and can promote niche products and mainstream products in a niche way. New and/or smaller blogs might not have a huge fanbase, but they have the trust of their followers and are more influential than many big names because of their connection with their followers. Their engagement rates are high and they are more economically feasible options for brands.
