Six female teachers in the United States have been arrested in the span of two days for allegedly having sex with their students, according to several media reports. They were all charged with sexual misconduct.
One such case was Ellen Shell, 38, of Danville, who was arraigned in Garrard County District Court on Thursday with third-degree rape, according to WTKR, after prosecutors said she had sex with two 16-yer-old boys on separate occasions in July and August of last year.
She worked as a teacher’s aide at Woodlawn Elementary School and was employed at Lancaster Elementary School, the news portal said. Shell was placed on administrative leave pending the resolution of the case.
Another incident happened in Arkansas where educator Heather Hare, 32, allegedly had a sexual relationship with a teen student, the Arkansas Times reported. She is now facing a first-degree felony assault rap and was expected to turn herself in on Friday.
In Oklahoma, a 26-year-old teacher named Emily Hancock was arrested earlier this week after local police were tipped off to her alleged relationship with one of her students. Meanwhile, a former substitute with Wellston Public Schools, Hancock was charged with inappropriate behaviour. She allegedly began communicating with a 15-year-old last October and started sending him nude photos, according to KOCO News 5.
A fifth teacher, Kristen Gantt, 36, who teaches English at a Catholic high school in Des Moines, Iowa, was added to the tally on Friday. She allegedly had sex with a teen student five times on school premises as well as outside, local reports were quoted by New York Post.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Allieh Kheradmand, a teacher at James Madison High School in Virginia, was also nabbed for alleged sexual misconduct with a student over the course of several months, Fox5 reported. Kheradmand works as a learning disabilities teacher with Fairfax County Schools. She was arrested on four counts of indecent liberties with a student, according to police.
