Brunei: Prince Abdul Mateen Ties Knot With Commoner In Grand 10-Day-Long Wedding Event

The royal nuptial event of Brunei's Prince Abdul Mateen is scheduled to culminate on Sunday with a lavish ceremony in the 1,788-room palace followed by an elaborate procession.

Brunei's Prince Abdul Mateen, also popularly known as Asia's “most eligible bachelor” tied the knot with his fiancee 29-year-old Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic on Thursday in a 10-day-long grand nuptial ceremony. As per reports, the wedding took place inside the gold-domed Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the country's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan. The opulent wedding which began with a solemnizing ceremony took place on Thursday.  

The wedding drew special attention as Prince Mateen's fiancee is a 'commoner' hailing from a non-royal family. Prince Mateen and Isa-Kalebic dated for many years before their engagement was announced last year in October.

About the Prince

32-year-old Prince Abdul Mateen is popular for his expertise in polo while his list of accomplishments also includes his prowess as a helicopter pilot. Due to his matinee idol looks, he also enjoys a strength of over 2.5 million Instagram followers 

Prince Mateen's father, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is one of the world's richest royals with a net worth of around $28 billion. However, being sixth in the line, Prince Mateen is unlikely to ascend the throne. 

About the Prince's wife

Mateen's now- wife Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic is the granddaughter of the Sultan's special advisor and the founding chairperson of Royal Brunei Airlines. As per media reports, she runs a fashion brand called Silk Collective.
