The New Year's Day marked a return of a 100-year-old tradition of taking a dip in the chilly English Bay in Canada's Vancouver, called the Polar Bear Swim. The traditional dip was held this year for the first time since Covid-19 pandemic began in 2020. This was the 103rd year of the Polar Bear Tradition, started in 1920 by Greek immigrant Peter Pantages. A music concert was also held for the revelers at the site of the dip.
