The Israeli foreign ministry on Friday told the Times of Israel confirmed  that an Israeli diplomat in China was stabbed in what is suspected to be a terrorist attack.

It has been reported that the diplomat is now under medical attention at a hospital.

This development came amid the spiralling tensions between Israel and Hamas, with the latter calling for a "day of rage" on Friday.

In response, Israelis and Jews worldwide have been advised to be on high alert.

The attack on the Israeli diplomat has further worsened the bilateral relationship between Israel and China.

Israel’s envoy to Beijing reportedly expressed disappointment over China's lack of condemnation of the recent Hamas attacks.

The Israeli government has been vocal about its concerns regarding China's stance on the ongoing conflict.
