Charity Lawson has finally found her soulmate! The child and family therapist got engaged to Dotun Olubeko, a Brooklyn-based integrative medicine specialist, on Monday's season finale of ‘The Bachelorette’. Charity had a terrible week, having sent Aaron home after he surprised her in Fiji, followed by a heartbreaking breakup with her runner-up, Joey Graziadei.
Charity accepted Dotun's proposal—along with the magnificent, glittering engagement ring! Dotun proposed with an exceptionally magnificent oval diamond ring that also had smaller diamonds around the band.
Dotun told Charity how much he loved her and how happy he was for their future together before popping the question. “Charity, we went through so much, from our first kiss at the mansion to conquering our fears. 200 feet in the air, rushing through New Orleans, and, above all, falling in love. You've managed to make me feel quite special. You've made me feel loved, validated, and desired,” Dotun told Charity.
Charity went on to express her gratitude. "I've always said that being here and going through this journey has taught me that one conversation can change everything," she explained. You've made me feel alive, and you've restored my faith in love. You've made me feel so important and seen. So, Dotun, as I stand here now, I want an everlasting future with you. I saw you as my husband and my future. I can see it so clearly. I have no reservations. I don't doubt it”,. She added.
Charity has come a long way to get to this point. The 27-year-old was originally introduced to Bachelor Nation viewers earlier this year on Zach Shallcross' season of The Bachelor. She finished fourth after being ousted on hometown dates. Charity was subsequently cast as the lead on The Bachelorette, where she met over a dozen men seeking to be her future spouse.
Charity and Dotun will now have their happily ever after, but Charity had to shatter some hearts along the way, including her own. Saying goodbye to Joey before getting engaged to Dotun was a heartbreaking moment since Charity had told him on their dream suite date that she was in love with him. In addition, she had to contend with Aaron Bryant's return to the show in the days leading up to the proposal, despite his prior elimination during hometown dates.
