American rapper and singer Latto rose to fame with her song Big Energy (2022). Also known as Miss Mulatto, she won Jermaine Dupri's  famous reality television series "The Rap Game" in 2016. Here are 8 things you didn’t know about the Big Energy rapper:  


1. Latto is her stage name
Famous rapper Latto’s real name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens. Latto is her stage name. Earlier, she was known by the name Miss Mulatto which she later changed to Latto in 2021.  


2. Latto had a feud with Nicki Minaj
Following a revelation that Minaj's successful song, Super Freaky Girl,  will not be nominated for any rap categories at the 2023 Grammy Awards, a feud between the rappers Nicki Minaj and Latto broke out on Twitter.


3. Latto used to drag race
Stephens used to be well-known for drag racing. Stephens eventually put more of her attention into rapping, which led to that pastime taking precedence over her participation in drag racing.

4. Latto featured as the cover of XXL magazine in 2020
Latto has made waves in the hip hop community, and she was featured on the Freshman Of The Year cover of XXL magazine in 2020. The magazine features the hottest new rappers yearly. 


5. Big Energy’s remix featured Mariah Carey
Latto became well-known because of her song Big Energy. This was the riskiest bet that paid out for Latto. But, a lesser-known fact is Mariah Carey was featured in the song's remix.

6. Latto was nominated for the Grammys 2023
Latto was a 2023 Grammy Award nominee for Best New Artist. It was her first time attending the illustrious occasion. 


7. Latto identifies as biracial
Stephens describes himself as multiracial. This is due to the fact that her mother is white and her father is black. “I’m passionate about my race,” she says.  

8. Latto got bullied for being light-skinned
Stephens experienced bullying at school because he was "light-skinned." Some people believe that those with lighter skin are not "real" black people. She is a rapper who has persisted despite prejudice.
