The Shocking Revelation
According to The Guardian, Anastasia Mikova, the co-director of the documentary, while speaking to the press in Paris confirmed that it was not her father, Guy Béart, the renowned singer.
It further reported that Mikova, speaking on behalf of Emmanuelle Béart, who was not present at the press conference, explained that the Nelly and Mr. Arnaud (1995) actress chose not to disclose the identity of her abuser as it does not align with the film's intended approach. The instances of incest began when Béart was 10 years old and persisted until she reached the age of 14.
In a video message played during the press conference, Béart expressed that her intention was to focus on sharing the experiences of other incest survivors, not her own. However, she explained that the honesty and bravery displayed by these survivors inspired her to also share her story.
The Guardian reported that in the documentary, her voice can be heard off-screen as she addresses her abuser, stating, "Since my father, my mother, and my friends were unaware, you had the opportunity to repeat your actions, which you did, spanning over four years." It was Béart’s grandmother who came to her rescue.
Emmanuelle Béart has featured in more than 60 film and television projects since 1972. She has received eight César Award nominations and is also the recipient of the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1986 film Manon des Sources.
