The account, with over 10 million followers on the platform formerly known as Twitter, posted a series of false and offensive messages, causing a momentary frenzy before they were swiftly removed.
Among the fabricated posts, the hacker claimed that former President Donald Trump had passed away, accompanied by a shocking announcement: "I'm sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024."
This false news was soon contradicted by the elder Trump himself, who posted an unrelated message on his Truth Social account to reassure the public of his well-being.
The hacker did not stop at spreading false news of the former president's demise. Other posts contained offensive content, including a racial slur directed at President Joe Biden and provocative statements such as "F— Joe Biden" and "North Korea is about to get smoked."
Furthermore, the hacker's messages delved into unrelated topics, mentioning convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and individuals like cryptocurrency influencer Richard Heart and YouTuber Logan Paul.
Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr.'s brother, lightened the atmosphere with a tweet in jest, asking about the strength of his sibling's password: "What was @donaldtrumpjr password? Don2024?"
A spokesperson for the Trump family, Andrew Surabian, promptly addressed the situation, confirming that Donald Trump Jr.'s account had been hacked. He posted a tweet saying, "Don's account has been hacked," and shared a link to a now-deleted tweet from the compromised account.
As of the latest update, the hacked tweets have been removed, and Donald Trump Jr. has resumed using the platform. The identity and motives of the hacker remain unknown, and X has yet to provide an official comment on the incident.
However, the incident has left many questioning the security measures in place on the social media platform, which has recently undergone a transformation under the ownership of Elon Musk, who renamed it "X" recently.
