Rumors of a reunion of the 20-year-old boy band, NSYNC,  have sparked up among fans. What does NSYNC stand for? One would wonder if the acronym stands for something rather bizarre or meaningful. It stands for the last letters of each of the original members’ first names, that is - JustiN, ChriS, JoeY, JasoN & JC. The Jason stands for Jason Galasso who left the group before the band ever came into the limelight. On July 24, 2001, "Celebrity," the last album by NSYNC, was released. Three compilation albums were then released: "Greatest Hits" on October 25, 2005; "The Collection" on January 25, 2010; and "The Essential *NSYNC" on July 29, 2014.

Fans of the forgotten boy band recently got their hopes up when rumors of Justin Timberlake reuniting with the old band members sparked up. 

Why is the band reuniting almost after two decades?

Among many speculations, amidst the media and fans, the reunion will take place for the third installment of DreamWorks’ Trolls franchise, in which Timberlake will play a character named Branch. Various sources have claimed that NSYNC might tour again for the upcoming animated movie, Trolls Band Together, although the rumors remain unsubstantiated. 

According to a source from ET, the Justin Timberlake starrer the third Trolls installment will also star JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fantone and Chris Patrick in captivating surprise roles. 

However, the reunion has not been entirely confirmed yet, but the trailer of the upcoming animated musical comedy has left viewers and fans finding clues as well as yearning for the NSYNC reunion. 

It's worth mentioning that Timberlake's character looks to have been abandoned by the other members of the band in the film. In reality, Timberlake was the first member of NSYNC to leave in 2002 to pursue a solo career, while the rest of the band never officially declared a breakup; they were practically on an extended hiatus.

Eventually whatever may be the final verdict the band member’s social media have lighthearted teases for the fans, as indicated by Lance Bass on his TikTok page.
