Tuesday night shined bright with dazzling performances at the finale of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ (DWTS) season 32. ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ star Xochitl Gomez won her first Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy with her stage partner Val Chmerkovskiy. This is Gomez’s first and Val’s third time winning this trophy.
This season’s finale made history as it was the first time when five couples were featured in DWTS finale. Each couple performed two dances – a redemption dance and freestyle. Gomez and Chmerkovskiy scored full marks in both the performances and grabbed the trophy.
Performance by all Season 32 couple
The finale night not only featured finalists but also the eliminated stars of the show including Barry Williams, Lele Pons, Mauricio Umansky, Harry Jowsky and others. They all rocked the night by dancing to “Young Hearts Run Free” by Candi Staton.
Season 31 champions Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas also returned to the stage to dance to “Give It to Me Baby” by Rick James.
Performances by finalist couples
For the finale round, each couple presented two performances which included a redemption dance and a freestyle dance.
Redemption Round
In the redemption dance round, finalists performed one of their old performances chosen by the judges. Alyson Hannigan, with her partner Sasha Farber kick started the night with a salsa number to ‘Get On Your Feet’ by Gloria Estefan. The duo had danced this in their first week. They scored 25 out of 30 in the redemption round
Jason Mraz and his pro partner Daniella Karagach re-performed their foxtrot to ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ by Frank Sinatra. The duo scored 30 out of 30.
The ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Ariana Madix and her pro partner Pasha Pashkov took the stage to re-do their second week performance on ‘Spice Up Your Life’ by Spice Girls and scored 29.
Charity Lawson performed a tango with partner Artem Chigvintsev to ‘Libertango’ by Astor Piazzolla and earned a score of 29.
And finally the winner couple Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy closed the redemption round with their foxtrot to ‘Unconditionally’ by Katy Perry and scored 30.
Freestyle Round
The freestyle round started with a fun dance by Lawson and Chigvintsev. The duo danced to "Lose My Breath" by Destiny's Child and "Suéltate" by Sam i and Jarina De Marco featuring Anitta & BIA and earned a full score of 30.
Madix and Pashkov danced to "Level Up" by Ciara and "Run The World (Girls)" by Beyoncé for their last ballroom dance. They also earned 30 out of 30.
Mraz and his pro partner Daniella rocked the stage with their high-energy performance. They danced to ‘Happy’ by C2C featuring Derek Martin and scored 30.
Hannigan and Farber enchanted the crowd by dancing to Taylor Swifts’ ‘Enchanted (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Papi’by Jennifer Lopez. The duo received a score of 28 out of 30.
The final performance of the night by Xochitl and Val earned a perfect score as the power couple danced to ‘Que Calor’ by District 78.
Tribute to Len Goodman
This season finale was a tribute to former DWTS judge Len Goodman. Beloved ballroom champion and longtime judge of the show died in April this year at the age of 78. He served as the judge of DWTS since its inception in 2005.
This year the DWTS Trophy was renamed as ‘Len Goodman Mirrorball’ Trophy to honor his legacy. As the show ended, the screen displayed a smiling photograph of the late judge with caption ‘In the loving memory of Len Goodman’.
