Kenneth Petty, who is married to Nicki Minaj, has been ordered to observe 120 days of home confinement as a consequence of breaching the conditions of his probation. This breach occurred when he posted video clips on social media that seemed to contain threats aimed at the rapper Offset.
According to a court order officially filed on Wednesday within the Central District of California, Petty has been mandated to undergo home monitoring due to the fact that he was captured on video making threatening statements towards a particular person, all while being in the presence of someone with a prior criminal record. The specific person referred to in the order is Offset, and the video clips in question pertain to a series of messages Petty posted on social media on September 16th, targeting the rapper.
In July 2022, Petty received a three-year probation sentence following a guilty plea for not registering as a sex offender in California in 2020. Previously, in 1995, Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape involving a 16-year-old girl and served a four-year prison term in New York.
In the viral video circulating on social media on September 16, Petty and a group of his associates can be observed outside a New York City hotel, reportedly where Offset was staying at the time. Within the video, amid several threatening remarks, Petty uttered the words, "Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral pussy!.!"
Offset, in a video he shared on his social media platform, dismissed the threats with a nonchalant tone. I’m getting off a jet, he’s funny,” Offset remarked, insinuating that Petty was broke.
Offset, previously a member of the Atlanta rap group Migos, is married to the rapper Cardi B. Notably, Minaj and Cardi B have been engaged in an enduring feud, and both were embroiled in a physical altercation during the Harper’s Bazaar Icons event at New York Fashion Week in September 2018. Social media was abuzz with videos from that incident, capturing Cardi B aggressively moving towards Minaj and initiating an attack.
