Reports have revealed the truth about Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness' divorce, alleging it was a "long time coming."
The Wolverine actor, 54, and his 67-year-old partner, who married in 1996 and have two adoptive children - Oscar Maximilian Jackman, 23, and Ava Eliot Jackman, 18 - announced their separation on September 16, in a joint statement, telling fans they felt "blessed" for the time they had together.
Reports mentioned that the break-up had been a "long time coming" and that it didn't surprise family members who were already aware of it.
"It happened a long time ago. Friends and family were aware of it," reports stated , adding that the two may have had issues for some time, most likely before Jackman returned to Broadway in February 2022 to star in The Music Man.
"Deb wasn't at rehearsals very much (and she was even spotted snoozing during some of them," the reports claimed. The reports also stated that no third party was involved in the former couple's split, but that they had been living together as "roommates."
It occurred after the former couple published a statement regarding their divorce to People magazine, stating, "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage."
"Our journey is changing, and we've decided to split up to pursue our individual growth."
They met on the set of the TV show Correlli in their native Australia in 1995, and their marriage was regarded as one of the most stable in show business. The ex-couple was frequently seen out and about, including on scooter trips around New York City and swimming in the Hamptons.
They adopted two children after struggling to conceive their own children: Oscar, now 23, and Ava, aged 18. On their anniversaries, the "Wolverine" star has long publicly gushed over Furness, posting effusive notes on social media. In 2012, when Furness gave Jackman a charity award at the Tony Awards, he said nice things about her.
Deb stated in 2014 that she felt it was an insult to tell her she was "lucky" to be married to the younger actor because of their 13-year age difference.
Until their split was announced, Jackman and Furness appeared to be as happy as ever. The couple was recently seen together at the Met Gala in May, while Jackman paid tribute to Furness on their 27th wedding anniversary in April.
