Måneskin, the acclaimed rock band from Italy, stormed the 2023 MTV Music Video Awards in New Jersey on Tuesday. In front of a live audience, they introduced their latest single, 'Honey (Are U Coming?).'
This performance comes on the heels of an on-stage mishap during last year's MTV VMAs, where, while performing, the black one-shoulder top worn by the band's bassist, Victoria De Angelis, fell off, resulting in an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. The performance was not only aired on MTV but also on CBS Network and the kids' channel Nickelodeon. As per reports, her chest was partly exposed due to the incident in front of a multitude of audiences.
However, Måneskin came in for a much more positive experience in this year's MTV VMAs, where they won the award for the 'Best Rock' music video for their song 'The Loneliest.' They were also nominated in the 'Group of the Year' category with other industry stalwarts like the Jonas Brothers, Seventeen, Flo, and more.
As the band made some history with their win, here are some of their best songs and some relatively hidden gems that people can listen to:
The Loneliest:
This song brought Måneskin their ‘Best Rock Video’ award at MTV VMA, and it's believed that this track is one of their most dark and sentimental ballads. The music video has been compared with emotional scenes from the acclaimed movie 'The Notebook,' while the single showcases the band's versatility in music composition and songwriting.
Caroline:
This romantic alt-rock track is a departure from the band's authentic riffs and big choruses and delves into their more sentimental side. This five-minute track is often perceived as a lullaby with soft and warm guitar sounds, heavy drums, and a flowing bassline, which makes it a fan favourite.
I Wanna Be Your Slave:
This track is from Måneskin's second studio album, 'Teatro d’ira: Vol. I'. It showcases rock music in its most fundamental and raw form. The song is an honest expression of sexual empowerment, but it displays it in a very humane manner.
Mammamia:
According to the band's bassist, De Angelis, this track is 'very silly' and 'careless.' However, that is exactly why this song is immensely powerful and has become very dear to the Måneskin loyalists.
In Nome Del Padre:
This song is one of the tracks that has become a fan favourite when the band is performing live. With mesmerising guitar riffs and a heavy bass tone, this song packs a punch to bring together a massive live audience.
As per reports, Måneskin believes that they are a band that still divides audiences, where some are supportive of their musical endeavours while conservative rock and roll listeners don't find relatability with their work.
