The second trailer of Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ was released by Apple TV on Wednesday. The first trailer was released two months ago. The film is based on the 2017-published non-fiction written by David Grann with the same name, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, and Lily Gladstone among others.
In this trailer, the film unveils more about its content and cinematic world vis-a-vis the first trailer. It presents the spree of killings in the Osage country in the 1920s, which had been targeted for extracting resources after the discovery of oil deposits in the land. It shows the struggle of the indigenous Osage American tribes for identity and existence against the burgeoning oil industry, which was only interested in extracting oil.
DiCaprio stars as Ernest Burkhart, a World War I veteran who comes to Oklahoma. De Niro is seen in the role of Ernest’s uncle, William Hale. Lily Gladstone portrays Osage native woman and the wife of Ernest, Mollie Burkhart. The film also features Jesse Plemons and Brendan Fraser in significant roles as an investigating officer and Hale’s attorney, respectively.
Robert De Niro is promising in the portrayal of a complex antagonist who is influencing Ernest to assist him in making ways to extract oil. The camaraderie of DiCaprio and Gladstone promises a cynosure and captivating experience for the audience. The dilemma between love and betrayal is ostensible in the character of DiCaprio. The trailer also depicts the mysterious death of the people and the growing feud between Native American communities and white people.
The film debuted on May 20, 2023, at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and has already garnered humongous applause from the audience.
The film promises a tantalizing cinematic experience as well as an open discourse for sustainable development.
Martin Scorsese has produced and directed the film and is also the co-writer of the screenplay.
