Michael Latt, a prominent marketing consultant and social justice advocate with deep ties to Hollywood, died on Monday in a shocking incident of violence.

The incident occurred around 6 pm at Latt’s house in the 900 block of Alandele Avenue when a woman, identified as 36-year-old Jameelah Elena Michl, entered his house without permission and shot him in the head.

Upon receiving the distress call, police rushed to the scene. He was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Meanwhile, Michl was arrested and is currently held on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $3 million.

Police described Michl as a person living in her vehicle, which was parked nearby and subsequently impounded as evidence. Latt did not have any known connection to the suspect, and initial reports indicate that she was not granted access to his home.

'He devoted his career to supporting artists'

Latt was the chief executive of Lead With Love, an entertainment marketing consulting firm he founded in 2019 with an emphasis on elevating Black creatives and other underrepresented voices in Hollywood.

He was the son of film producer David Latt and Michelle Satter, the founding senior director at the Sundance Institute.

Commenting on the same, Satter shared the news of Latt’s death on X.

Writer Akilah Hughes, a friend of Latt’s, wrote on X, "He was the definitive ally — used every tool he had to elevate the voices and work of Black creatives."
