Taylor Swift left the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards with less bling than she came in with. According to crowd camera footage from the presentation, the pop artist, who received nine statues on Tuesday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, appeared to lose the diamond on one of her rings.

Swift wore a black asymmetric Versace gown with a thigh-high slit, gold button detailing, and an open back for the event, channeling her "Reputation" era. The singer accessorized with a variety of jewelry, including an onyx and diamond ring by “Van Cleef & Arpels”. The 18-karat yellow gold ring costs $12,000, according to Joseph Saidian & Sons.
A video feed from the crowd shows that the "Anti-Hero" told a suit-wearing security guard that the diamond was missing by holding up the ring without the impressive stone and making a face.

Swift is then seen kneeling down to investigate the floor in search of the stone. When Swift walked the stage at the conclusion of the night to win the Video of the Year award for her single "Anti-Hero," the ring was visibly missing from her left hand.
After the video surfaced on X (Twitter), several fans rushed to the social media website to comment, one user Nari wrote, “she can buy another one like its a pack of gum”. Another user Rai wrote, “You are a billionaire girl”, while one user said, , “This is why we can’t have nice things”. One more user Mode couldn’t stop praising the singer, “She’s doing a handful of things just in one event in one night imagine The Eras Tour”.
It's unknown if Swift was successful in locating the diamond. The star's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The $12,000 ring was not the only pricey piece of jewelry worn by the "Cruel Summer" singer on the night.
Swift piled multiple gold and silver necklaces, including what looks to be a historic chain from Joseph Saidian & Sons that cost $65,000, as well as a diamond choker from Anita Ko that costs $31,675.
The actress also donned a set of diamond tassel earrings that look to be from Maria Tash and cost $21,950 each, as well as a diamond ear cuff that appears to be from Anita Ko and costs $3,850. Donatella Versace, who turned to Instagram shortly after the ceremony to share a carousel of photographs of Swift on the red carpet, designed Swift's gown.
