Taylor Swift's concert film, set to release on October 13, has already made history by breaking theater records more than a month ahead of its premiere. The  AMC Theaters announced on Friday that "The Eras Tour" concert movie had "shattered records for single-day advance ticket sales revenue," with an astounding $26 million in tickets sold on Thursday alone. This record shatters the record of highest advance sales revenue day in AMC’s 103-year history.
This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record-holder, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which made about $16.9 million in one day ahead of its 2021 release, according to AMC's statement. In addition to setting records, the Swiftmania at theaters led "Exorcist: Believer" to move its release date up by one week in response to the overwhelming demand for "The Eras Tour" concert film tickets. This has again sparked a meme fest on social media platforms.
What’s more? Swift's concert film accomplished this feat in less just than three hours after tickets became available, prompting AMC to announce plans to add extra showtimes wherever possible to accommodate the overwhelming demand.
After a summer of record-breaking live shows during her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift is now making waves in the cinema world with her "Eras Tour" concert movie. To meet the overwhelming demand, every US AMC Theater will screen the "Eras" movie at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. AMC has already expanded its screening capacity by adding additional auditoriums in theaters across the country.
In tribute to Swift's favorite numbers, ticket prices for the film are set at $19.89 plus tax for adults and $13.13 plus tax for children and seniors (except for AMC's branded premium large-format screens).
The film will also be screened in IMAX and Dolby Cinema at AMC, as well as in other premium large formats. AMC had anticipated the surge of interest from Swifties and upgraded its website and ticketing systems to handle an expected fivefold increase in traffic.
Despite these preparations, the AMC app reportedly experienced crashes on Thursday, prompting fans to visit their local AMC theaters in person due to the high volume of online traffic.
AMC said that they are fully aware of the fervor of Taylor Swift fans when tickets go on sale, and they are committed to addressing any delays or outages swiftly.
