NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino is in talks to become Twitter's chief executive officer, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Earlier, micro-blogging site Twitter’s owner Elon Musk made the announcement that he had found a new leader for the social network and will shift into a new role as chief technologist.
In a tweet on Thursday, Musk said the company's new CEO will start in about six weeks, without naming the individual.
As per reports, Musk’s new CEO is Linda Yaccarino.
Yaccarino is the head of advertising at NBCUniversal, which she has been leading the role for more than a decade.
Yaccarino as an industry advocate at NBCUniversal has found better ways to measure the effectiveness of advertising.
Yaccarino as head of NBCU's advertising sales played a significant role in the launch of the company's ad-supported Peacock streaming service.
Yaccarino had served 19 years at Turner Entertainment and has been credited with dragging the network's ad sales operation into the digital future.
She is an alumna of Penn State University, having studied liberal arts and telecommunications.
Last month, Yaccarino interviewed Musk at an advertising conference in Miami. At the conference, Yaccarino encouraged the audience to welcome Musk with applause and lauded his work ethic.
Yaccarino's exit would be another big blow to the company after Comcast said last month that NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell was leaving after acknowledging an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, following a complaint that prompted an investigation.
