Starting the day with a record-extending fifth title at U-19 World Cup, India capped off the Sunday perfectly as Men in Blue defeated West Indies by 6 wickets in their 1000th ODI match that took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit Sharma started full-time white-ball captainy on a high as his 60 off 51 balls in the second innings saw India eventually bagging the first ODI against West Indies on Sunday, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. India, at one point, seemed to be struggling with another middle-order collapse when they got reduced from 84/0 to 116/4 in the middle of the chase, but Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda did well to stick to the crease and take India over the line. However, the Men in Blue were almost certain to win the game after the end of first innings only as West Indies had managed to set a paltry target of 177 runs for India, courtesy Yuzvendra Chahal's 4/49 and Washington Sundar's 3/30.
