The number one replacement of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been terminated by American troops, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, days after the dreaded terrorist was killed in an operation in Syria's Idlib province.
"Just confirmed that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s number one replacement has been terminated by American troops. Most likely would have taken the top spot - Now he is also Dead," Trump wrote on Twitter.
On Sunday, Trump while confirming al-Baghdadi's death, said that the ISIS chief had "died like a dog" and "like a coward".
He also spoke about the canine, saying a "beautiful dog" was injured during the operation, according to The Washington Post.
Al-Baghdadi, the most notorious ISIS leader, had been in hiding for the last five years. The US had earlier announced a reward of USD 25 million for information leading to the terrorist's death or arrest.
