Bhagalpur, 1980: In a show of shocking police brutality, 31 undertrials are blinded in custody after being convicted by the courts. After a national outcry, the policemen are suspended but subsequently reinstated.

Phoolan Devi, notorious after the Behmai massacre, and ‘dasyu samrat’ Malkhan Singh, ‘ruler’of Chambal, surrender in the eighties. After long jail stints, Phoolan Devi becomes an MP from Mirzapur and her life inspires the award-winning ‘Bandit Queen’. Malkhan dabbles in politics.

After several years in jail, Charles Sobhraj, the ‘bikini killer’, escapes only to be arrested in a Goa bar on his birthday by Inspector Madhukar Zende.
