A few hours before polling day set in in Karnataka, Congress claimed that buses from Goa were spotted in northern Karnataka and asked whether illicit money is being transported, or whether the objective is bogus voting in the state.
Sharing a video of a bus, the Congress said on Twitter, "Why is the Goa BJP govt sending people from Goa on Kadamba Transport Corporation buses to northern Karnataka tonight? Why??? Is illicit money being transported? Is bogus voting the objective?"
Congress leader Pawan Khera took to Twitter and wrote, "Why is Goa BJP Govt sending people from Goa by Kadamba Transport Corporation Buses to Northern Karnataka tonight? Last week too for PM’s rally, people were ferried in over a 100 buses from Goa".
Another Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala suspected a "resort" link and called it a 'preposterous, heinous crime'. "Is illicit money being transported? Where is Karnataka Police? What’s happening at Whistling Woodzs Jungle Resort at Dandeli, Uttar Kannada District , Dandeli, Karnataka? Has Vishvajeet Rane booked 6 rooms here? What’s the purpose? Will ECI act?" he said on Twitter.
The high-decibel campaign for polls to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly ended on Monday. The state is witnessing a triangular contest between the ruling BJP, the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) which is headed by former prime minister H D Deve Gowda. The results will be declared on May 13.
