Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, while addressing the G20 Development Ministers' Meeting via video conference, said, "Democratization of technology is an important tool to help bridge the data divide".
The prime minister welcomed G20 delegates at Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi. "I am delighted that the G20 development agenda has reached Kashi as well. Development is a core issue for the global south...I strongly believe that it is our collective responsibility not to let the sustainable development goals fall behind. We must ensure that no one is left behind," he said, as reported by ANI.
Further, Modi added, "Our efforts must be comprehensive, inclusive, fair and sustainable. In India, we have made efforts to improve people's lives in more than 100 aspirational districts which were pockets of underdevelopment."
Emphasising the democratisation of technology, he said that digitalisation has brought revolutionary change in India and the country is willing to share its experience with partner countries.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishanker along with other G20 delegates took a taste of the Varanasi culture and attended the Ganga Aarti on Sunday evening. Speaking at the meeting on Monday. Jaishanker said, "India has put forward an ambitious 7-year action plan for accelerating progress on SDGs, which presents a coordinated, integrated and inclusive roadmap for G20 actions. The action plan not only galvanizes a strong G20 commitment to the development agenda but also puts forward transformative actions on the three core agendas," reported ANI.
