Remarking on the neglect of the Tamil language, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday said that language is the 'blood flow' of a race and if it is destroyed then the entire race would be annihilated, according to a report by India Today.

Addressing the 80th annual Tamil music festival inauguration of the renowned Tamil Isai Sangam founded in 1943 by Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar, the DMK chief said, "Our Tamil land faced several cultural invasions for centuries. Tamil Nadu suffered because of the foreign invasion and the race lost its rights. Tamil was neglected due to the instruction by foreign language speakers. Thamizhar was neglected by the dominant class," reports India Today.

He further said that singing Tamil songs was considered a "taboo".

Accusing the opposition, BJP, of 'Hindi imposition', Stalin said that a person could learn as many languages as they wished. However, the state would not tolerate the imposition of any other language.

"That is our language policy," Stalin said.
