A 100-year-old woman died after being raped by a drunk man in a Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district.
The incident took place in Jaani village of Meerut district where the accused, Ankit Punia, attacked the victim. The victim, who was unwell, was trying to escape when her voice was heard by her brother. Subsequently, some neighbours along with the victim's brother managed to pin down Punia, reported IANS.
The accused was later handed over to the police, however, he refuted the allegation.
A few days back, in another incident, a man in inebriated condition raped a woman in full public view in Bengaluru.
An autorickshaw driver had recorded the incident on his mobile phone and called the police which detained the man, Visakhapatnam's Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) A Narasimha Murthy said.
The culprit, identified as 21-year-old Ganji Siva, was formally arrested and booked for rape under the Indian Penal Code.
