16 children have been reported missing after a boat carrying 33 children capsized in Bagmati river in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Thursday. The accident took place near Madhupur Patti ghat along the Bagmati river when the students were commuting to school-17 of them have been rescued so far. The 17 students were rescued by local divers of the village.
Although the SDRF and NDRF have reached the spot, the operation hasn’t yet started since their equipment is to reach them still.
“Rescue operation is underway… I have asked the district magistrate concerned to look into the matter with urgency. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families.” said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who is in Muzaffarpur to review the progress of ongoing projects in the district.
