In a tragic incident in Tamil Nadu's Dharmapuri district, a devastating accident involving four vehicles claimed the lives of at least four people and left eight others injured. The mishap unfolded rapidly on the Thoppur Ghat and was captured by CCTV footage. The video revealed a speeding truck colliding with another, triggering a chain reaction.
The impacted truck lost control, colliding with another truck while trapping a car in between. The car was crushed on the spot, and the truck flipped off the bridge, adding to the severity of the incident.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and promptly announced financial aid for the affected families. He declared compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those undergoing treatment for injuries. Swift rescue operations were initiated, with the fire brigade and other emergency services rushing to the scene.
Additional videos from the area depicted smoke billowing from the accident site as all three trucks caught fire. Dharmapuri MP and DMK leader urged the Centre to expedite work on the elevated National Highway to prevent similar accidents in the future.
