Tragedy unfolded in Bihar's Saran district when a 55-year-old truck driver, Mohammed Zahiruddin, was brutally lynched by a mob on suspicion of transporting beef. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night when Zahiruddin had parked his truck due to mechanical issues near Khori Pakar village.
As he sought assistance with a mechanic, villagers surrounded him and, upon detecting a strong odor emanating from the truck, immediately assumed it contained beef. Without allowing Zahiruddin an opportunity to explain, they unleashed a violent assault. His helper, Khurshid Ali, managed to escape.
Zahiruddin was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead, believed to have suffered fatal internal injuries, as reported by Indian Express.
Zahiruddin, a resident of Majhwalia village, was engaged in transporting animal bones to a licensed Marhaura factory that utilized them for medicinal purposes—a routine task, according to Saran Superintendent of Police Gaurav Mangla. The police swiftly responded to the incident, apprehending seven individuals involved in the lynching.
