The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday revolted the alleged cost escalation in the construction of Dwarka Expressway, recently identified by the Comptroller Auditor General Of India.
Chief National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar and Reena Gupta gathered near the under construction Dwarka Expressway Highway, along with several party leaders and workers, alleging the project to be a “scam”.
“This is such a big scam that the road, for which an approval of Rs 18 crore per km was given, was built at a cost of Rs 251 crore,” the Chief National Spokesperson told PTI.
As per media reports, the CAG audit report on the implementation of Phase-1 of the ‘Bharatmala Pariyojana’ highway projects indicated that the NHAI’s decision to pursue an elevated carriageway on the Haryana part of the Dwarka Expressway pushed up the construction cost from Rs 18.2 crore per kilometre to Rs 251 crore per kilometre.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Modi-led government of breaking “all records of corruption”. The Ministry of Road, Transportation and Highways has however, rejected the charge and called it “gross misrepresentation of facts”.
