Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who recently joined the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, announced his decision to quit the party on Saturday.
Rayudu made the announcement, expressing his intention to stay out of politics "for a little while."
The decision comes just ahead of the state Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. In a social media post on platform X, Rayudu stated, "This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while," promising to reveal his plans for the future in due course.
Rayudu had joined YSRCP on December 28, 2023, in the presence of party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy, and Rajampeta Lok Sabha member P Mithun Reddy.
The former cricketer, known for his contributions to the Indian cricket team and stints with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), had engaged with the public through various programs in recent months.
