Andhra Pradesh Police CID officials have initiated the interrogation of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the Skill Development Corporation scam case. This development comes after the ACB Court in Vijayawada granted the CID two days of police custody for further questioning. The questioning sessions are scheduled from 9.30 am to 5 pm on both September 23 and 24.

To ensure a smooth and transparent process, the court has allowed the presence of three deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) from the Economic Offences Wing of the CID, accompanied by six junior police officers, a professional videographer, and two official mediators during the interrogation. Additionally, a team of lawyers will be available for Naidu at reasonable intervals, with a five-minute break after every hour of questioning, PTI reported.

In a move to accommodate Naidu's comfort and considering his age and health, the court has permitted the questioning to take place within the jail premises itself, eliminating the need for a nearly 200 km-long journey from Rajamahendravaram central prison to the CID office in Mangalagiri.

The CID is allowed to videograph the entire interrogation, maintaining confidentiality in a sealed cover. Naidu will also be provided with necessary amenities, including medical aid and a one-hour lunch break from 1 to 2 pm.

Following the conclusion of the police custody, the CID is directed to produce Naidu virtually before 5 pm on Sunday. Naidu's arrest on September 9 is linked to allegations of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, resulting in a reported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
