The Bihar government plans to showcase the success of rural women entrepreneurs and the World Bank-backed village livelihood program, 'Jeevika,' among other socio-economic initiatives, during the upcoming G-20 events in June.
The G-20 meetings in Patna will focus on themes such as women and the future of work, as well as the upskilling of the women workforce in a tech-intensive work environment. The Bihar government aims to present how rural women are breaking all barriers to become entrepreneurs and the different initiatives taken by the state government have played a crucial role in their success.
The official emphasized how 'Jeevika' has brought a revolution and transformed the lives of rural women and their families. The G-20 delegates will also learn about the 'one-district-one-product' scheme, which is designed to promote local entrepreneurs, as well as Bihar's rich cultural heritage. The government has planned various cultural events, exhibitions, and sightseeing tours to showcase the state's rich history, including visits to world heritage sites in Gaya and Rajgir, the Bihar Museum, and the Patna Sahib Gurudwara. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has praised the work of rural women associated with 'Jeevika' in improving the economic status of their families.
The G-20 events are part of India's G-20 Presidency, which comprises 19 countries and the European Union. During the two-day event, the Bihar government will also highlight the success stories of women interested in joining the police and their accomplishments in different fields, soft power, and varied history.
The cultural events will showcase the heritage and history of Bihar through musical gigs, display of archival photographs, live performances by traditional artists, and exhibitions of the works by state artisans. The Bihar government aims to present the success of these programs as models of women's empowerment in the rural sector, earning appreciation from different parts of the world.
